'The Voice PH' Artist Radha Tinsay Gets Support From Patti Austin

Former Kulay member and 'The Voice of the Philippines' artist Radha Tinsay has a supporter in no less than American Grammy award-winning singer Patti Austin.

The 62-year-old jazz artist expressed her support for Tinsay on micro-blogging site Twitter Friday, citing the blind auditions performance of the professional singer.

Tinsay's audition to join 'The Voice of the Philippines' aired last Sunday (June 23). Faced with a decision to have either Sarah Geronimo or Lea Salonga as coach, the ex-Kulay singer eventually picked the latter.

Thanking Austin for her show of support, the 42-year-old Salonga invited the singer to watch the program's live shows once she visits Manila. "Would love to see you and give you a proper hug," Salonga told Austin on Twitter.

The two singing veterans performed together in a US concert series in 2010.

Austin is set to hold two concert performances in the Philippines -- on August 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, and on August 10 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.

In the last two episodes of 'The Voice of the Philippines,' Salonga, Geronimo, rock superstar Bamboo Mañalac, and The Black Eyed Peas' apl.de.ap continued to screen artists using the unique Blind Auditions format of the program.

With their backs turned to the auditionees, the coaches recruited artists based solely on their voice.

Last Saturday and Sunday, apl.de.ap got two more singing acts -- siblings Grace and Guji Lorenzana, who came in as a singing pair; and band vocalist Sir Lord Lumibao -- bringing his total number of recruits to four.

Mañalac also managed to convince two artists to join "Camp Kawayan" -- professional singer Lee Grane and marketing assistant Isa Febregas -- to form of a team of three members so far.

Salonga, meanwhile, was elated to recruit Tinsay to add one more member to her team of three.

Catching up with the number of artists on the other coaches' teams, Geronimo added three members to Team Sarah -- entrepreneur-housewife Eva delos Santos, registered nurse Michaellen Temporada and theater actress Morisette Amon.

Hosted by Toni Gonzaga with Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo, 'The Voice of the Philippines' airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. and Sundays at 8:15 p.m.
