SJDM Representative Floroda Robes is an advocate for mental health
San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan Congresswoman Florida "Rida" Perez Robes was alarmed by the number of teenagers who commited suicide due to mental health issues.
“In one public high school in a barangay in our town, 10 students, all teenagers, died of suicide due to mental health issues, in a span of one year. Many of the cases are related to online bullying,” says Rida.
To give hope among her constituents , Rep. Robes visits barangays and schools in her city. Trainings are also given to students to make them aware of their healthy responsibilities to themselves.
“Depression needs to be treated. Early intervention can come in the form of caring. It helps a lot when a depressed individual knows someone cares,” says Rida
The SJDM representative is truly an advocate for mental health, she, together with with other lawmakers like Pangasinan Rep. Baby Arenas and Zamboanga Sibugay Rep. Ann Hofer, signed a partnership with Korean-based Sunfull Foundation, an international non-governmental organization that further raises mental health awareness among youth and helps combat cyberbullying.
According to Rida, who was appointed by the foundation as an ambassador of the Sunfull Internet Peace Movement, many studies have shown that our country has one of the highest cases of depression in Southeast Asia with at least 3.3 million Filipinos who suffer from it.
Rida is working hard to put up a mental health wellness center in San Jose del Monte. In fact, House Bill No. 2383 (an act establishing a mental health clinic in the city) has been approved in the committee level in congress.
In her recent speech titled "Changing Faces," Rida wants to bring back the “smiley” on these “changed faces,” she calls upon government institutions, specifically Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education, to “formulate and implement an ethical orientation program anchored on the teaching of moral and philosophical values... that are necessary for human survival.”
Rida, who was once a victim of bullying because of her skin colour, credits her late parents for making her a strong-willed woman. Her advocacy for mental health is her agreement with the depressed youth that she will be there for them.

Watch Me Kill follows the story of a cold blodded killer for hire played by Ms. Jean Garcia (as Luciana) met a teenage girl named Aurora played by Junyka Santarin who was held captive by one of her victims and instead of killing Aurora, she shot her on the leg takes her as her prisoner but along the movie the girl changed her narrative causing her to question her purpose.
I loved how the characters portrayed their roles especially Jean who indeed shows her versatility as an actress in this movie while Junyka's acting is still pure and so inncocent; surely perfect for her role.
The ending of the movie is mind twisting and will leave you shocking for a moment. Definitely worth watching once it premieres in cinemas on September 13 as one of the official entries to Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019.

Last September 10, 2019, I got the chance to watch the tropa movie G! starring McCoy De Leon, Jameson Blake, Paulo Angeles, Kira Balinger and Nick Parker with Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz, Roxanne Barcelo, Dominic Roque, Patrick Sugui, Moi Bien, Alora Sasam, Jao Mapa & Gia Alvarez with the special participations of Ms. Rosanna Roces & Mr. Joey Marquez.
The movie follows the story of Sam Corteza (McCoy), the handsome and popular MVP & Team Captain of their football team. Dom (Jameson), Bry (Paulo) & Wacks (Mark) are loyal friends. He has a girlfriend who is beautiful and alo popular like him, Menchie (Kira).
He has a good life til he was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer. When he found out that his days might be already numbered, he listed the 7 things he wanted to do before he dies – his bucketlist.
He went on a roadtrip (1st on his bucketlist) with his friends to do his bucketlist.
His 6th list is to have his first sex. While going to Baguio, they met Sandy (Roxanne) who has a special feeling for Sam.
Sandy found that Sam's days are already numbered and she agreed to have sex with him but unfortunately Sam was too drunk, and his first sex didn't happen.
Will Sam able to tickoff all the things on his bucketlist?
I was expecting a usual barkada movie but the film has exceeded my expectations. You might think that the film is for those young ones only but even if I'm not teen anymore, the film will make you feel that you're part of their clique, you're one of them. This is now my favourite movie of director Dondon Santos.
McCoy really shines in the movie. He made sure that you will be part of Sam's journey of fulfilling his bucketlist. He is brave enough to accept the role. He made happy with his G! as in great performance.
G! is not just a story of friendship, it will teach you lessons about life especially on giving importance to your family and loved ones while you still have time.

Advocacy director Anthony Hernandez dedicates new film to seamen
Michael de Mesa stars in a heartwarming film that tackles the struggles of Filipimo seamen, Marineros: Men in the Middle of the Sea. He plays Dennis Mirasol, who is almost 60-year old-&retired seaman & suffering blindness brought by an accideng in his work.
The movie will also star Ahron Villena, who plays Kent Mirasol, the eldest son of Dennis who took the responsibility of being the family's breadwinner when his father was disabled by his blindness. He is married to Nerissa Mirasol, played by Valerie Concepcion, a loving wife & mother. Claire Ruiz will play Karen Marisol, the only daughter of Dennis who fell in love with Vale Medina (Jon Lucas) and got pregnant at a young age.

The film is directed by advocacy director Anthony Hernandez, who considers this film as a passion project. According to him, it depicts the reality, life of our fellow Filipino seamen. He believes this film also goes out to all Filipinos, for this film embodies true Filipino spirit & how love for family always triumphs amidst life's adversaries.

'Heneral Luna' Producers Bring Hollywood Sci-Fi Thriller 'Freaks' in the Philippines
Filipino moviegoers are in for a treat as they will be the first in Asia to experience the new Hollywood sci-fi thriller Freaks. This exciting and critically acclaimed film will be released in the Philippines on August 23 ahead of its premiere date in the United States (September 13).
In this award-winning thriller, a disturbed father played by Emile Hirsch locks his bold 7-year-old daughter (Lexy Kolker) in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone (Bruce Dern) convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge.
Freaks is a highly acclaimed film that is described by critics and viewers alike as a “genre-bending” feature that will appeal to fans of thrillers looking to be shocked and surprised in the theaters. It is also a treat for viewers who want to dissect their movies and TV shows like puzzles so they can solve the mystery before the film reveals its mind-boggling twist.
Freaks received a standing ovation during its premiere in the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018 and has garnered positive attention for its writer-director duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. Inspired by Stein’s own experience as a new father, the filmmakers “wanted to explore a father’s unbounded love and desire to protect his child, coupled with a parent’s exhaustion, inadequacy, temper and guilt.”
“Parents sometimes shield children from the whole truth about the world. For a child who is different, the world can be a cruel place. In addition to a grounded father-daughter story, we aimed to make a film that reflected current stories of parents and children in a time of xenophobia and prejudice,” Lipovsky and Stein added.
Like its directors, critically acclaimed actor Emile Hirsch (who also stars in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon A Time in Hollywood) immediately connected with the film’s theme. “Freaks was a script that spoke to me as I read it, in a most intimate and personal way. Like my character, I’m also a father, and the dynamic between the father and daughter, and the deep bond and stresses that the script explored -- almost felt like it had been written for me, personally,” Hirsch shared.
Besides Hirsch and Dern, Freaks boasts of an impressive cast, which also includes Grace Park (TV’s Battlestar Galactica and Hawaii Five-0) and Amanda Crew (HBO’s Silicon Valley). The Hollywood Reporter praises the movie’s “tight-knit ensemble” and singles out young Kolker’s performance as the “feisty little girl determined to protect her family.” The film’s directors are all praises for Kolker, calling her “a true discovery, a charming girl who could stand her ground with veteran actors. When unleashed, Lexy was truly fierce, a powerful force that had no limits, just like her character Chloe.”
Kolker was chosen by Lipovsky and Stein after combing through 1,200 audition submissions. The young actress is best known for her work on the USA network action thriller, Shooter, playing the daughter of Ryan Phillippe for its 3 seasons and running. Most recently, Kolker filmed a multi-episode arc in the popular series Marvel’s “Agents of Shield”.
Freaks is Lipovsky and Stein’s debut feature length film, but already critics are praising the movie and hailing it as a “must-watch.” io9 declares that Freaks is a “wonderful, exciting film. Stein and Lipovsky stuff Freaks with limitless imagination, finding ways to execute their loftier ambitions. It’s a film filled with complex, robust ideas that not only have a unique twist to them but a realistic grounding that makes them more relatable and impactful.”
The movie will be released in the United States by WellGo USA.
“Freaks” is distributed locally by TBA Studios. It opens in Philippine theaters nationwide, starting Friday, August 23, 2019.

Nadismaya lang daw sya na di buo ang Team LAYF, ang Big 4 ng Batch 2 ng nasabing edisyon. Ayon sa kanya, kung magaling lang siya sa mga challenges ay makakapasok siya sa Ultimate Big 4.
Di naman sinisisi ni Fumiya si Kiara Takahashi ng Batch 4 kaya di siya nakapasok. Iginiit niya na deserving ito na makapasok sa Big 4 na sinang-ayunan naman ni Yamyam.
Sa ngayon masaya ang duo sa kanilang unang pelikula na kung saan ang mga characters nila ay parang sa tunay na buhay lang din. Ang “Mang Kepweng: Lihim ng Bandanang Itim” ay mula sa Cineko Productions at balitang isasali sa Metro Manila Summer Film Festival sa Black Saturday next year.

Afternoon drama princess Andrea Brillantes and singer-actor Khalil Ramos are paired for the 1st time in Reality Entertainment's newest horror movie The Ghosting.
The Solante urban legend will come alive in The Ghosting. If Balete Drive has this infamous White Lady, Solante has this horrific little girl carrying a headless doll who asks passersby to help her get home. Little do they know that home is a mysterious red house visible only to her and her unassuming victims.
In the movie, Grace (Andrea) will become a missing person after meeting this little girl. Ken (Khalil) believes that the little girl has something to do with Grace's disappearance and weird death in his neighborhood but people around him don't believe in him.
How will they uncover the truth is one of the exciting parts of this movie which will be directed by Joey De Guzman, one of the promising directors of Reality Entertainment. Another exciting thing about this film, it's from the makers of critically-acclaimed horror hits such as Seklusyon (2016) and Kuwaresma (2019).
The film is slated to open in cinemas on August 28, 2019.

Pelikulang Indak puno ng inspirasyon
Naging matagumpay ang premiere night ng latest dance movie ng Viva Films ang “Indak” na ginanap sa SM Cinema Megamall, kagabi, August 5, 2019.
Present sa event ang cast members, director Paul Basinillo at ang lead stars ng pelikula na sina Nadine Lustre at Sam Concepcion. Napuno naman ng kilig ang Cinema 1 nang dumating sa premiere si James Reid na todo suporta sa kanyang girlfriend na si Nadine.
Dinagsa ng maraming fans ang nasabing premiere na talagang nagustuhan, na-inspire at napa-indak sa pelikula na tungkol sa journey ni Jen (Nadine Lustre). Isang babaeng mahilig sumayaw na nakatira sa isla ng Bantayan.
Naging viral ang video ni Jen na napanood ni Vin (Sam Concepcion) na leader ng dance group na Indak Pinas. Sa tulong ni Vin, napunta sa Manila si Jen at naging bahagi ng nasabing grupo. Pinakita sa pelikula ang struggle ni Jen para maabot ang kanyang inaasam na pangarap at gayundin ang pangarap ng Indak Pinas na manalo sa World Dance Championship sa South Korea.
Maliban sa magandang istorya na puno ng inspirasyon, puno rin ng musika at bonggang choreography ang pelikula na talagang mapapa-indak ka pag napanood mo ito sa mga sinehan simula bukas, August 7.

Viva's Newest Heartthrob Marco Gumabao doesn't want an overnight popularity
Since he joined the VIVA Artists Agency, Marco Gumabao has become more visible in the movie scene. In 2018 alone, he appeared in three films: “Abay Babes”, where he was fancied by Cristine Reyes and Natalie Hart; “Para sa Broken Hearted” where he was paired up with Shy Carlos, and then in “Aurora”, the Anne Curtis-starrer that won various awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival Awards. This past March, he played a significant role in Nadine Lustre’s journey to self-love in “Ulan”.
Marco, who is regarded as the country’s Newest Heartthrob, said in an interview that he didn’t want “an overnight popularity” and would rather achieve success in a “step-by-step manner”. He worked hard to prove that that he is a leading man material.
“Personally, I believe that it should be slowly but surely,” he said. After going through the audition, Marco has finally landed his biggest leading man role yet in “Just a Stranger” opposite Anne Curtis.
Marco plays Jericho, son of a Philippine Ambassador to Portugal. He meets Mae (Curtis), a married woman, gets drawn to her beauty, until both of them give in to their physical attraction. Despite being in a committed relationship with Febbie (Jas Rodriguez), Jericho chooses to continue with this illicit affair. But how long can he and Mae keep it a secret?
This tandem with Anne is something Marco’s fans cannot miss. Millions of viewers are already going gaga over the movie trailer. This movie takes place mostly in Lisbon, Portugal. Aside from its beautiful cinematography, this romance drama also boasts of a compelling soundtrack, “Delikado” by Marion Aunor and “Magkaibang Mundo” by Katrina Velarde.

Sa loob lamang ng isang buwan, mula ng maupo sa pwesto si Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan bilang director ng Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) noong June 27 hanggang July 27, P23,180,153 na worth ng shabu ang nakumpiska sa buong Western Visayas. Malaking bahagi ng mga nakuhang shabu ay mula sa Negros Occidental (P13.8 million) at Bacolod City (P9.2 million).
Habang P162,653 na halaga ng shabu ang nakuha sa mga probinsya ng Iloilo, Capiz at Aklan, Antique at Guimaras.
Ayon sa PRO-6 spokesperson na si Police Lieutenant Joem Malong, makakaasa ang buong Region 6 na tuloy-tuloy at lalo pang pang pag-iigtingin ang laban kontra droga lalo na sa Bacolod City & Negros Occidental. Sa patuloy na pagdidisiplina at paglilinis ng bagong PRO-6 chief Pamuspusan lalo pang nahirapan ang mga tao at grupong involved sa droga na magpapatuloy pa sa kanilang operasyon, dagdag pa diyan ang pagbaba ng bilang ng mga miyembro nila.
